She is a breakout star on HBO’s acclaimed teen drama series Euphoria.
According to Deadline, Sydney Sweeney has been cast as the lead in the upcoming criminal drama film Silver Star.
Silver Star will begin shooting in the United States in ‘early 2021’, and the search for the film’s male lead is now ongoing.
According to the site, Silver Star follows ‘unlikely couple’ Buddy, a 20-year-old recently released from jail, and Franny (played by Sweeney), who is vaguely characterized as ‘a pregnant 19-year-old.’
The film’s brief synopsis reads: “After his botched robbery attempt at the bank that foreclosed on Buddy’s childhood home, he abducts Franny, triggering an unexpected journey together.”
Ruben Amar of Swim Little Fish will helm Silver Star, and he couldn’t stop gushing about Sweeney’s role.
‘Sydney is a great actor who adds richness and subtlety to every character she plays. Her talent will enable her to metamorphosis into the highly complicated and multifaceted Franny,’ added Amar.
Amar is also co-producing Silver Star with actress and producer Lola Bessis through his production business Les Films de la Fusée.
Producers Virginie Lacombe of Virginie Films and Jamin O’Brien of The Community are also on board.
Following the announcement of her starring role in Silver Star, Sydney rushed to Instagram to show her gratitude.
