Shania Twain can connect to Taylor Swift’s enormous success and hectic touring schedule.

As the country icon celebrates the 25th anniversary of her smash hit Come On Over album, she opens up in a new cover story interview with Haute Living on paving the path for other women in music, praising Swift’s hard ethic and drive.

“It wasn’t like I planned to be a trailblazer or anything; I never imagined I would be,” Twain, 58, told the site. “I was just trying to be my true self and do it with conviction. I am an expressive person, and I incorporate that into my music. “I said it with attitude and confidence because I meant it.”

The “You’re Still the One” singer said it’s a “compliment” to be considered a trailblazer, but she didn’t envision her career path going in that route at first: “I was just being myself, and I think that’s served me very well.”

Of course, musicians like Swift, 34, have given Twain flowers over the years for inspiring them, and she reciprocated in the Haute Living interview. “That girl’s working her buttocks off. “She lives an exhausting life, but she is dedicated and committed to herself, her art, and her work,” she remarked of the “Karma” musician.
