Sydney Sweeney waved farewell to her iconic blonde hair at the 2024 Met Gala.
The actress chose a darker look to pair with her powder blue Miu Miu gown for the star-studded event on Monday, May 6. The short black hair, which seemed to be a wig, complemented the black floral design on Sweeney’s gown. She wore black latex gloves and a pearl-decorated veil. (The veil looked to be removed when she hit the carpet.)
Sweeney, 26, was seen waving at supporters as she left the Carlyle Hotel in a video shot before her red carpet appearance. Sweeney’s team lowered her skirt as she entered a sprinter fan transporting her to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Sweeney easily matched this year’s “Garden of Time” dress code, which corresponded to the event’s “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” theme.
Sweeney has attended every Met Gala since her debut in May 2022, when she wore Tory Burch for the Gilded Glamour theme. (She also went to the event in May 2023.)
“The moment that I found out I was going to be able to go to the Met with Tory, I think it was just this surreal moment, because the whole thing did not feel real,” Sweeney told Vogue ahead of the event. “Right now, it still doesn’t feel real. I don’t think it will feel real, and it will happen so rapidly that it will seem like a dream.”
Sweeney remarked before her first Met Gala: “You know what’s funny, though: I don’t know what happens after the steps.” Now, she appears to be an old pro.
