Colombian pop star Shakira has announced that her song “Puntería” will serve as the official anthem for the Copa America 2024. Shakira, known as the “Queen of the World Cup,” has previously captivated audiences with her energetic performances of songs like “Hips Don’t Lie,” “Bamboo,” “Waka Waka,” and “La La La” during the World Cups of 2006, 2010, and 2014. Among them, “Waka Waka” is regarded as one of the greatest World Cup songs of all time.

For Copa America 2024, Shakira is making a comeback to the world of football by showcasing her latest studio album’s lead single, “Puntería.” The song features rapper Cardi B and incorporates a blend of disco and modern pop vibes.

Speaking about the collaboration, Shakira expressed, “Puntería will be the official song of Copa America 2024. This is the most important football event of the year, and we know that this song will be the summer anthem for fans around the world.”

Shakira is not only a renowned singer with a repertoire of lively football-themed songs but also the wife of Spanish footballer Gerard Pique. They had a beautiful relationship that lasted over a decade before parting ways in mid-2022.

Copa America 2024 will take place from June 20th to July 14th in the United States, featuring the participation of 16 teams. Defending champions Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, will be placed in Group A alongside Peru, Chile, and Canada.

This tournament has the potential to be Messi’s last international competition with the Argentina national team.
