Travis Kelce jokes that he might get tased once President Biden invites him to the podium

Travis Kelce finally got his moment to speak in front of the presidential platform. And he stepped forth at his own risk.

President Joe Biden and Travis Kelce

The 34-year-old quarterback and the rest of his Kansas City Chiefs teammates paid a visit to the White House on Friday to commemorate their second consecutive Super Bowl victory. The Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII in 2023, and then beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in Super Bowl LVIII earlier this year to win the franchise’s fourth Lombardi Trophy.

At first, President Joe Biden, sporting his characteristic aviators, was hesitant to invite Kelce to the stage, afraid he wouldn’t know what the NFL star would say. But he took a gamble, and Kelce seizes the opportunity.

“My fellow Americans,” said Kelce in a deep baritone voice, prompting laughter from his teammates and invited guests. “It’s nice to see you all yet again. I’m not gonna lie, President Biden, they told me if I came up here I’d get tased. So, I’m gonna go back to my spot.”

Well done, @tkelce; it doesn’t get any cooler!” Of course, fans will recall Kelce, who is presently dating Taylor Swift, briefly taking the podium last year when he and quarterback Patrick Mahomes presented Biden with a personalised No. 46 jersey. Just then, Kelce slyly sauntered over to the podium and stated, “So, I’ve been waiting for this…” when Mahomes intercepted his teammate and apologised for the stunt before leading him back to the rest of the group. Again, hilarious. President Joe Biden wears a Kansas City Chiefs helmet, much to everyone’s joy. At Friday’s White House reception, Biden received a Chiefs helmet and was encouraged to wear it. POTUS complied, unbuckling the chinstrap before placing the helmet onto his head. It elicited shouts from the Chiefs, with some saying, “Do it!”  Do it!”Mahomes distanced himself from Butker’s comments, and Kelce shared he doesn’t agree with the majority of the views his teammate expressed, though both Mahomes and Kelce also expressed Butker as a good teammate.
