‘I’m interested in feminising the workout space’: Miley Cyrus admits to training in her Gucci slingbacks as the singer discusses sobriety, songwriting, and messaging close friend Beyoncé while posing for raunchy shoot

Hannah Montana, the clean-living, fun-loving teen made famous by Miley Cyrus and adored by girls all over the world, has come to an end.

Since then, we’ve seen Bangerz, bad behaviour, failed marriages, and one extremely filthy performance with Robin Thicke at the MTV Music Awards, as the singer and actress attempted to abandon her innocent Disney image in favour of something more risqué.

Cyrus has had a difficult transition, as his daring journey through youth and early adulthood has been persistently examined, scrutinised, and occasionally condemned.

But time has a way of coming full circle, and as she enters her thirties, the Tennessee-born singer, now 31, has adapted to a more sedentary lifestyle, although one that includes working out in fancy heels.

In an interview with W Magazine Volume 3, The Pop Issue, she stated: “My lifestyle is extremely clean.” Sobriety is an important element of it. My mantra, like any athlete’s, is “Practice how you perform.” So that’s why I practise in heels.

‘The gym looks really tough, but then I’ve got my ivory Gucci slingbacks because they remind me of Marilyn Monroe. I train in heels, mostly. I’m interested in feminising the workout space, because so much of the workout equipment is ugly.’

Cyrus is now experiencing a career revival; her most recent studio album, Endless Summer Vacation, debuted at number one in ten countries and became the world’s 19th best-selling record.

Flowers, the star’s lead single, was also a hit, earning her several prizes, including a Brit for Best International Song and her first Grammy for Song of the Year.

She has now linked up with Beyoncé for a surprise collaboration on the R&B legend’s country and western-infused new album, Cowboy Carter.

The lead single Flowers was also a triumph, winning the artist many prizes, including a Brit for Best International Song and her first Grammy for Song of the Year.

‘I think it’s a really cute part of our relationship, because over the past couple of years I’ve really locked down on my privacy and on what I share with the public.

‘She’s the same way. Part of our relationship is the safety between us. The songwriting or the work is just a small part of my relationship with her—or with Dolly [Parton], or with anyone.

‘Our personas have a relationship, but then we have a relationship. And I love that.’
