KISS’s Gene Simmons praises Taylor Swift for ‘taking over’ the music industry: ‘I am a fan’

Nowadays, everyone seems to be a Swiftie, including Gene Simmons.

The famous KISS singer lauded Taylor Swift while discussing the current generation of bands and musicians making their mark on the music industry today.

“There’s no question, Taylor Swift has taken over, and she’s great,” Simmons told Page Six exclusively at his Rock & Brews restaurant in El Segundo, California.

“I am a fan.” I know her, and she is a very solid person. Aside from that, I am not sure what is cool.”KISS Frontman Gene Simmons Offers Bold Opinion on Taylor Swift

Simmons dropped Swift’s name after pondering on musical legends from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. The “God of Thunder” rocker stated that, aside from Swift, today’s talent roster cannot match to the true enthusiasm that the music world felt at the time.

“When we were growing up in the 1960s, we had Led Zeppelin, The [Rolling] Stones, The Beatles, Elvis, Pink Floyd, Madonna, Motown, and all of that, plus Prince and David Bowie. “All of this was going on at the same time,” Simmons, now 74, said. “What’s happening now?”A photo of Paul Stanley and Taylor Swift

As Swift fans may know, the KISS Army has already collaborated with the Swifties. Last August, KISS frontman Paul Stanley brought his family to witness one of the singer’s Eras Tour gigs in Los Angeles. The Starchild even uploaded a photo of himself wearing tour memorabilia on social media.

Swift and members of her band (also dressed in full KISS attire) seized the stage during the country singer’s performance of “Kiss A Girl” in Kansas City, Missouri, for an unforgettable surprise prank.

While Swift has been traveling the world on her continuing Eras Tour, Simmons and Stanley have been focused on their individual careers after 50 years with KISS. In December 2023, the rock group made their final appearance together, delivering back-to-back gigs at Madison Square Garden in New York City as part of their End of the Road World Tour.

“On one level, I felt really proud. But on another way, it was quite melancholy,” Simmons said of his final moment on stage while speaking with Page Six at Rock & Brew.

“It’s like when you leave home – you’re happy because you’re excited about the new possibilities, but you’re leaving Mum crying at the doorway,” he said. “But everything has to come to an end.” “You must have the pride and dignity to know when to stop before Mother Nature takes over.”

Despite no longer having to put on his famous Demon makeup every day, Simmons told us he’s “busier than ever” after leaving KISS.
