Shakira looked stunning as she took the stage during halftime at the 2024 Copa América final on Sunday, dressed in a dazzling silver sequinned ensemble. The 47-year-old multi-Grammy Award winner, who parted ways with former soccer star Gerard Pique in 2022, captivated the audience at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.
Her outfit included a plunging chainmail crop top paired with a matching wrap-around mini skirt featuring a side slit. Shakira completed her look with coordinated ankle boots and fishnet stockings. Accompanied by a troupe of dancers clad in metallic trousers and sleeveless crop tops, Shakira’s performance was highly anticipated.
Announcing her appearance earlier in the week, Alejandro Domínguez, president of CONMEBOL, praised Shakira as an extraordinary South American star whose global appeal transcends borders and unites millions through her music. He expressed confidence that her performance would enhance the message of healthy passion and unity through sport.
Having performed at prestigious events like the Super Bowl and three World Cups, Shakira added the Copa América to her illustrious resume with her appearance at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. The final drew over 54,000 spectators and kicked off at 8pm ET.
Throughout the years, Shakira has left an indelible mark on soccer tournaments worldwide. She famously performed her iconic hit “Hips Don’t Lie” at the 2006 World Cup final in Berlin and her chart-topping anthem “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” became the theme song of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Additionally, she contributed “La La La” to the soundtrack of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
