Taylor Swift has expressed her support for Deadpool & Wolverine and encouraged her followers to purchase tickets for the Marvel Studios picture starring Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds.
The singer of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” took to social media to pay tribute to one of her best friends in the world.
“Over the past few years I have watched one of my best friends on this planet pour every bit of his heart, soul, sweat, time, energy, jokes, pain, joy, rebellion, darkness, and magic into this film,” Swift posted to her Stories account on Instagram. “He’s made the best work of his life, and this picture feels like a true joy portal, a crazy escape from reality, and an ab sandwich. I do not know how he achieved it.”
Swift and Reynolds are good friends, so many may have assumed these words were meant at him, but the singer followed the praise with, “But that’s just Hugh for you!”
Swift ended the email with, “Shout out to Wade Wilson, aka my godkids’ sperm donor!”Swift’s jab was all in good fun, highlighting the close friendship she, Reynolds, and his wife, Blake Lively, share. Swift posted a photo with Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy, Lively, Reynolds, and Jackman.
“These other randoms crashed the photo, and we were too polite to ask them to leave,” she stated, before posting a link to buy tickets for the film.
Swift is rumored to make a cameo appearance in the Marvel flick, but Reynolds just denied the rumors.
“I will say once and for all that the cameo thing with Taylor,” the actor told E! News, adding, “because she’s our friend—that is not in this film.”
However, Reynolds stated that Swift would be an excellent substitute for Deadpool.
“I always do say that if anyone ever were to take over the role of Deadpool, actually Taylor would be very good,” Reynolds claimed. “Because that’s a superpower that I don’t know that she shows everyone too often: She’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met.”
Deadpool & Wolverine hits theatres on July 26th, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the main roles. The film also includes Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova and Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox.
